Weekend Wrap Up

What a wonderful ending to the week! On Friday I found out a new, good friend of mine is expecting after in vitro fertilization! Praying for a smooth pregnancy for her. Then yesterday I received a call from my dear friend Colin who had just been notified that she is the 2008 recipient of CPON of the Year Award through the Assoc. of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses (APHON)! Three of us nominated her months ago for her incredible service and dedication to the field of peds hem/onc, so I couldn't be happier that she is being recognized at the national level. (Here's a photo of her and I at our last holiday party.)
Well, after Colin's news I started thinking that things happen in 3's, right? What was the third bit of good news going to be? Around 8pm last night John calls: HE SOLD HIS FIRST CAR!!! The same customer is due to come back on Monday for a trade-in, too! WOWZA! Phew! Now he knows he can do it.
Not sure I can handle much more good news but things seem to be on a roll right now! Congratulations to all three of these amazing people!

Happy Birthday, Dad!!! 58 never looked so good, young man!

Oh, Happy Day!

Johnny's first day on the job!!! Doesn't he look cute playing dress up? Hours are going to long and tough, but it will all be worth it in the end.

Then we got to go see our little one again! Getting bigger and cuter each time. "He" wasn't entirely cooperative and the ultrasound tech had to push around a bit to get "him" in the right position but she eventually got what she needed (measurements of the back of the neck) and all looks well. He's a mover and a shaker, that's for sure! And, of course, John never disappoints with his random comments in front of strangers: "Look at his big brain. He gets that from his daddy." I reply, "Hopefully he'll use his." Such abuse!

Ultrasound #3

This is our 9 week ultrasound picture! "He" was moving around quite a bit which got me giggling which made it difficult for the tech to do her job, but I couldn't help it! Anyhow, we have another photo session a week from today and I'll be sure to post that one as well. Isn't "he" adorable?!?!
John's first day of a non-tennis job went well but he's pooped! Now he gets to see just how tiring it can be to sit at a desk and listen to people all day. It's not so easy!

Summer 2008

To catch you up on what we've been doing this summer so far....

Started off with our dear friend Farrah's wedding down on Jekyll Island, GA. Gorgeous day, gorgeous setting and a gorgeous bride!

My buddy Erin and I before the wedding.

And, of course, Camp Sunshine! Definitely one of the best weeks ever!

These past two weeks have been full of family fun! First my mom and Elmer brought Morgan and stayed for almost a week! Thanks for all the hard work you all always do when you're here....it helps more than you know. Then for the 4th of July, John's brother and his family came to stay with us for the weekend. Kurt, Jenice, Nathan and Nicholas kept Bear entertained, kept us fed and only required one trip to the hospital.

This week marks an enormous development in our household. John will start training for his new full-time job as a salesman for a Ford dealership! WOW! Leave it to him to leave things till the last minute, but I've learned to have the utmost faith in him. It might not be on my timetable, but things ALWAYS work out for John and he always does the right thing.

New Blogging Family

Welcome to our blog! I wanted to learn how to do this effectively before our little one arrives in January, so please bear with me as I work out the kinks. Hopefully I'll remember to update it frequently so visit often!
